Anyone explain to me what happens with the PC version of iTunes I use? Will all my MP3 files need to be uploaded again to a new downloadable PC iTunes Music app? Why are they doing this? I hate change.

Think anything you buy off the store is stored on their cloud and u can redownload. Probably not ideal but you won't permanently lose anything you paid for via their store
Not a windows user but can you not download to your device an then upload to the pc?

Their store is aids to be honest. Lost quite a few albums when they randomly decided to take albums off the store only to replace it with the same freakin album under a different label.
Everyone either uses Spotify or other streaming sites these days. The rest pirate the music and refuse to download from ITunes anyways. It doesn’t make sense for them to keep the service live anymore really.

What about all those songs not, erm, paid for...
Basically I've got about 8,000 songs with only like 1,000 being bought. Just worried I'll lose them all or the capability to play them.

Also, download Syncios if you need to get your music on your computer. It can rip everything off of your music device that way you don’t lose it

The unpaid ones should be stored somewhere on your computer, it's unlikely they'd be uploaded onto iTunes cloud. They'll appear in your iTunes library etc but they'll be stored in a local folder i.e. somewhere on your computers hard drive
For the time being there will be no change if you are on a Windows PC. They are only making the changes in macOS at this stage.

Never had it but niece uses it,but i miss the good old days of LimeWire -the only one ive ever used lol
...I use it, will have to check everything is ok.
From a few people have been using the beta of macOS Catalina, there isn't really much of a change. They've basically just split iTunes into 3 apps (Music, Podcasts, TV). And now if you want to sync your phone/tablet, you just do it directly in Finder.
