Cash

Player Valuation: £1m
Inter are reportedly chaseing Banega for 8 million euro. Absolute shame we couldn't get a visa for this lad a couple of years back....hes an absolute GEM of a player and possibly the most technically gifted defensive midfielder in the game today. Nearing 23 he still has years beyond him. I always tipped this lad to be a great and still do. He is absolute quality and if we could get rid of Rodwell for over 20m Id spend the lot on him.

No-way we could get this lad without european football though and he was a big fish that broke the wire. His signing would have been as exciting as the Kanchelskis one.

Just can't believe we never got this lad when we could because of a failed VISA. Absolute nightmare

Obinna, Banega...all last minute 'near misses' that serve their purpose. I doubt it was down to Visa problems, more to do with price and conditions.

how many times has bill kenwrong pulled the wool over all our eyes with the classic line 'we couldnt get a visa' i smell a bit of bullsh*t!!!

Was nothing to do with a Visa....we got his work permit and everything for a loan from Valencia...

Funny thing was...the player and his agent knew nothing about the transfer and he didnt want to move.

Another transfer masterstroke.

Valencia have dismissed claims that Everton have agreed a loan deal and obtained a work permit for midfielder Ever Banega.

Everton boss David Moyes announced on the club's official website that a deal was in place to bring the Argentine midfielder on a season-long loan from the Spanish club.

However, various officials from inside the financially struggling club, and even the player himself, have rejected the claims and maintain that the 21-year-old remains in the Valencia squad.

Valencia communication director Damia Vidagany insisted: "No negotiations with Everton exist or any other club for the loan of Ever Banega. This news is not true."

Following a training session the player, who has been compared by Moyes to Mikel Arteta, told journalists that although he knew nothing of a move to Goodison Park, he expects to leave the club.

"I cannot say anything about Everton. For me the only news is that I will leave Valencia this season," he said.

The player's agent Marcelo Simonian reiterated his client's claim by stating: "I do not have contact with the English club and I have not received an offer on this subject."

Valencia sporting director Fernando Gomez also added weight to the club's stance by insisting: "Valencia will not negotiate the loan of players at the moment."

aye, that one was a bit special even from us.

Sounds like Duck tales from his Agent, or an agent!

It sounds to me like Valencia were prepared to sell but not loan, which makes sense, they needed the cash at the time and loaning a player out wouldn't have paid off their debts

Probably Everton was in communication with "wrong" agent of Banega, it wouldn't be the first time. Some things like that happened with Vagner Love transfer and I guess it was also a reason, why Dzeko was offered to us for third of price Manchester City (or any other teams with legitimate interest) in the end paid for him.

He's not called Billy Liar for **** all lads.

Good ole Bill. Cant wait for the next visa tale on August the 29th or so.

Where did you hear that ?

LCAB and THT mentioned it, along with Eden Hazard but we were skint.
Yeah, and I was the only one taking risk of thinking they are both wrong in this case (not doubting that they've got this info from the club, just thinking club was lied to by wrong agents). We underestimate not only agent influence, but also dirtiness of this business, including various agents fighting over rights to offer player.
