Ahh Cena, those were the days. Vincenzo Montella, Lombardo, Batistuta, Rui Costa, Enrico Chiesa....I could name hundreds of players from that era. Could name about 10 players in the Serie A now.
It's been riddled with corruption for years hasn't it, sad to see.
You made the post I was too lazy to write.
Who were your team back then? Remember when Sven and Lazio bought the League by raising the price of Milk. Wonderful times
Crespo was a goal Machine. Zamarano having to wear 1+8 on his shirt when Ronaldo signed. Great times
Napoli have always been my club because Maradona is my hero but they were gash after he left. I liked Fiorentina for Batistuta but in full glory hunting mode I followed AC Milan a lot. Im a striker myself so although a minor obsession with Scillachi post italia '90 I idolised Van Basten and to a lesser extent Papin. That Milan side with Baresi, Desailly, Van Basten, Gullit etc is still the best i've seen and I dont care what anyone
says, they would wipe the floor with Barca of today.
Do you reckon? I've always liked that debate. I'm a bit too young (can I still say that at 30?) ok, I don't think I followed it enough at that stage to really know. I remember them all being there, just can't quite remember how much they dominated at the time
I was more Inter, or Roma. Think I still have an Adriano (Inter) and a Montella (Roma) shirt somewhere
I think I lost interest when Nakata retired at 28.
I was only youngish myself (15 in '95) but Baresi is the best defender i've seen and Van Basten the best striker. Add Costacurta, Gullit, Rikjaard etc and they were something special. Im talking over a period, not a specific side really.
Then Beckford did it.
