wondering if anyone out there can recommend a piece of kit for when I start my new business next April.

In a nutshell I need it to be Non Apple, lightweight and able to access internet anywhere on 4g. Having something that also is a tablet will also be helpful.

was looking at the surface pro which seems ideal, but can't see anything that would allow me to get on the internet while out and about, which I need to be able to to. I'm guessing I can get a dongle to work with the surface pro?

Cheers

I have no idea about best tablets and surface pros etc but you can set your mobile as a wifi hotspot and then connect the tablet to that for Internet. Had to do that for work with mine recently and worked well and speed was decent.

Go with @Bungle 's hotspot approach, and get a decent tablet with a case that has a good keyboard incorporated.

Pretty sure the Surface ones can double as proxy base unit if you have a monitor and wireless keyboard/mouse, which could be handy.

Champion. That'll do me. Will test tomorrow on the iPad and see how good it is.

Cheers.

I have a surface pro 3 and can really recommend it as a superb device (expect the 4 is even better or the surface book which can also be used as a tablet)

For 4g I tether my phone as @Bungle has suggested

Seems like most laptops these days have touch screen displays and are hinged to allow use as a tablet, if that makes any difference to you. You'll still have to provide your own sawdust.

Had to do this on holiday when a mate had data in Germany and I didn't.

He loved me using his megabytes to browse GOT, I'm sure.
