Anyone live there ? Whats it like ?

Rent is insanely cheap over there, like stupid stupid cheap (I'm used to London prices) and it generally looks like a really nice place to live provided you don't mind a quiet life and don't crave nightlife.

What are the drawbacks to living there ? Not many jobs ? Sheep Shaggers ?

It seems like you could live in a sweet flat/house there on just minimum wage !

Im fed up with London and i need a change of environment, preferably somewhere super chilled.

No jobs.

Inbred people.

Have to take a hovercraft to get to the nearest pizza hut,

I can't talk, like. I live in a village in the north east where you can buy a two bed room house with a massive garden for 40,000 pounds. It's the trade off of living in a poor area where nobody wants to bloody be.

Basically, a good rule of thumb, is the cheaper the houses the worse the job market.

Used to live on the South Coast opposite. Good for a day trip, would not want to live there unless I was 80...

I was born and lived on the Isle of Wight until I was 18, my family still live there. It's a lovely place, too quiet for me when I was young, no going back for me once I'd seen the city lights and nightlife. If your happy with pubs and restaurants no probs but if you want clubs no chance, they are dire.

The architecture of some of the Victorian towns is stunning, as is the countryside and your never more than half an hour from a beach. I looked into a possible buy to lets a couple of years ago, you can get a 2 bed flat in a period property for about 90k, which would rent for about £600 pcm, I don't think its that cheap but if you live in London everywhere is gonna seem cheap. The main downside for me is the cost of the ferry, costs me £50-110 each time for a return ticket with the car depending on the time of year. Employment can be tricky too depends what you do. Give me shout if you wanna know anything else.
