Is the future bright?

There will be difficulties ahead - more injuries, more frustration in the transfer market - and we don't have a large squad. But all things considered things are shaping up very nicely for next season. We should be excited !

That's a myth.

Everton have a very big, high quality squad when all are fit.

Not only that, there is no team in the Premiership which has a better squad right now, except Chelsea.

Rooney, Fabregas and Drogba are the only three players in the PL who, IMO, would be first choice starters at Everton now.

People need to stop fretting about Rodwell and think this is a re-run of the Rooney saga.

Wayne was an established internationa and Premiership star by the end of August 204=04, having sparkled in Portugal at the Euros.

Jack is still trying to establish himself.

Wayne had his head turned by the likes if Sven and Paul Stretford, playing on his ambition to win things.

At that time, Everton were broke and going nowhere......niw we are still broke but heading north.

Wayne Rooney looked around him at Goodison then and saw journeymen, albeit admirable and much loved journeymen, such as Carsley, Big Dunc, Kilbane, Tommy G, Stubbsie, Davy Weir etc.

We weren't winning owt with that squad.

Jack looks at the roster now.....Arteta, Donovan, Pienaar, Baines, Saha, Billy, Fellaini, Ossie, Jagiaelka, Neville etcetera.....and his young contemporaries like Dan the Man, Jimmy V and Seamus Coleman......the names just trip of the tongue now.

That is a squad to go to war with.

This is a different era and we are on the move.

Jack Rodwell can fulfill his professional ambitions right here at Everton.

While I agree with most of your post, there are certainly more players than Rooney, Fabregas and Drogba that would command a first team place. But yes we do have a strong squad which only needs the permanent addition of Donovan and a world class striker to share the load with Saha.
