Sure, you work really hard to raise someone but at the end it is just selfish is it not? you want someone around, you want to be taken care of when you are too old, you want neighbours to envy your parenting. You don't really care about that poor thing when indeed you decide to make a baby.

For the record I have 3, the amount of stress my 16 year old boy has caused me over the last few years, im gonna be honest, it doesnt strike me as a selfish act.

Do they not tell you how stressful being a parent is?

I mean you say its a selfish act, but as a parent you choose to kiss goodbye to your life, cos the very second a child is born your life becomes ONLY about caring for that child, every waking hour is spent making sure your children are safe.

It's only selfish if you don't adjust your lifestyle to ensure that you are able to provide for the child emotionally, physically and financially.

Many people have the child but are either absent physically, emotionally absent or expect the taxpayer to fund the nourishment of the child.

If more parents were accountable, society would be far better off.

Surely it's more selfish to not have kids. Without kids you can do what you want, when you want and spend your own money on yourself.
I have 4 kids and my life revolves around them. I have no time or money to do anything for myself. How do you see that at selfish?
Kids aren't toys to play with or fashion items to show off to your friends.
