is our first team a little short?

With the exception of Rom, Distin, Stones and Barry (only just), none of our first team are what you could say tall.
All the rest are under 6ft and some by a long way.

I know corners and set pieces (except direct shots) are not exactly our strong points because of this, but surely it must be something to take into consideration when picking new players, even if it's just for the options it might give us?

Yes, some other teams get around technical inadequacies by fielding a team of shaved Gorillas and we've gone down the speed and agility route, but I can't help thinking that a bit of height in the team would make things a bit easier for ourselves especially if they can also play a bit.

I know we now play a short passing game so it shouldn't matter but I just worry we're too easy to push off the ball sometimes in the creative areas

barkley?

We have sub-six-footers like Jags and Lionel Naisy who are more than decent in the air. Pas un problème.

Height is over-rated in football now.

1. The ball isn't played in the air that much anymore.
2. The conditioning of the players allows shorter lighter men to out leap taller heavier men.

We have enough height with Rom, Barry and Distin although we'll probably never be great at corners.

I don't think it's an issue to be fair, I think we've got the right personnel for the style we play and I don't think we'll struggle against the bigger more aggressive teams whilst we have people like McCarthy and Barry in the team. I think we've got a decent blend of everything really.

What the hell is this? Is this a sensible post with no hidden agenda?

Fair enough, it just seems to we're giving away quite a bit of height to all the teams we play.

Hadn't checked Barkley's height as for some reason I've always thought of him as just under 6ft.
