Bruce just said he's going to save 200 quid. How the hell is that not going to help a family?

"I don't think switching companies is going to help those families" : quite amazing.

And that's just the two of us. Sure if you had a family you'd save more because you'd use more. Little things isn't it? We shove all bills through the Santander 123 thing, so get another hundred or so back each year through that. Get air miles with our grocery shopping so any flights home to see her family in Czech are free.

If you're smart you can make money go a pretty long way.

www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/a...-energy-gas-prices-including-fixed-deals.html

has a decent guide on the various ways you can save money on your energy.

Arguably the best investment though is improving the efficiency of your home, especially if you own it.

www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/grant-grabbing has links to various grants and freebies you can get to do that.

Boilers are one of the biggest contributors to your energy bills – the more efficient your boiler, the more heat it produces from each gas unit. Depending on its age, a shiny new efficient one could save you up to £310/year.

So a free boiler for those on benefits that could save £310 a year. Loft insulation can save around £180 a year. Cavity wall insulation is estimated to save around £140 a year.

Everyone get an exercise bike or 2 for the house and pedal for 30 minutes per 2 hours. Keeps you fit and heats you up!!!

Due to the property crash i bought a ****ty 1 bedroom apartment for 185k, im now reaping the benefits in that it only costs me £20 per month to light the house, and £20 to heat the bugger!!

Families are having to choose between feeding their children or heating their home. I don't think switching companies is going to help those families.

Heating still not on in the Ijjy household.

Thinking about it I should test it to make sure it actually works!

mine doesn't work, probably also due to being off so long. i fancy trying to do without to save money but no chance, it's gonna get freeeeezing very soon. so reckon get them to come round and sort it out next week.

"It'll be a condenser type"

"Does that mean we still have the big tank?"

"Yeah mate, but your getting it for nowt"

"I know but we want a combi, to do away with the big tank & use it as a cupboard"

"No mate it's a condenser... for nowt"

"Nah, we'll leave it mate tbh, cba really"

"If we give you a combi can we fit it monday?"

"Will you disconnect the tank & take it out ?"

"Yeah mate we'll do it all, even take it all away"

"no mate I'LL weigh it in with all my arl locks"

"No probs mate, so monday then"

"I'll have the kettle on mate"
