I suppose anything is possible.
I have reffed plenty of games ( under slight duress ) at a low level, but you have to have a certain type of 'head' for it, just like you have to have a certain type of 'head' for anagrams, Sudoku, etc...I don't. I can't get out of my 'player' / 'coaches' head I want to see (my) players putting meaty tackles in.
But the way, by default, the game is played and allowed, by default to be played, sucks the reffs into the mindset of if there is the slightest contact then a player is 'entitled' to go down, also if they did penalise all that and the other rubbish we would end up with 5 a side...bring it on

Seriously, though...it's a hard job, refs get too little credit. You have to be certain kind of a person to be able to do the job.
