I won't necessarily disagree, but sometimes it's hard to differentiate the cause from the effect. That's all I'm after. The negative/defensive style of the Italian game will suit a "natural defender" in ways that more expansive leagues will not. Does Kompany look useless at City because he's useless, or because of what Pellegrini is doing? Kompany may be done, but he also might look superb in what Juventus is doing. Others have summarized better, however, so I'll leave it to them.
