I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said "how do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say "go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny"? No. You'd say 'You look nice... John'.

It's a fool's game. Before you do something, ask yourself if you're going to have to lie about it to someone. If so, don't do it.
Beyond that, don't be Colonel Jessup. Tell the truth early, and suffer the consequences whether they can handle it or not. That was the whole point. Three people can keep a secret only if two are dead.
