Is fifth gone?

Bloody hell.

I think we need to be on the look out for this fella:

Probably not.

West Ham will fall away, and Southampton don't look like they have the strength in depth required to mount a sustained campaign - nor do Swansea. Whilst Chelsea and City are both too powerful for us, I think we can always stand toe to toe with Arsenal, United and Spurs and not be unrealistic in hoping for a win. Newcastle will always finish in the top half of the table, but any idea they'll ever finish higher than sixth is silly.

We have a couple of holes in the squad which need upgrading (a winger better than McGeady and Atsu, and a CM to rotate in regularly, given that three of our four senior CMs are carrying injuries) and if we can see to those issues in January via loans or cheap transfers (players in the last six months of contract), then I'd be confident we could finish fifth and win the Europa League. If we don't bring in those two / three new faces then I don't think our squad depth will be sufficient, given our current injury situation.

Ask in February.

Be interesting to see who we get either permanently or on loan (if anyone) and who goes (if anyone)
