Is David Moyes´ loyalty (negativity) going to cost us this season?

At the end of pre season, I was as optomistic about the season as ive ever been before. We won all but one game in pre season, we have a fantastic manager who has put together a very strong squad that is now injury free, no Europe this season, I thought we have a fantastic chance to get into the top 4 again and maybe get a trophy to go with it.

But after two games of the season, this optimism has changed into sheer anger and frustration, and that is towards David Moyes´ loyalty. Throughout the world cup, Jonny Heitinga played every game at central defence, a position he has excelled in whenever I have seen him play. Heitinga and Jagielka are without doubt our two best central defenders, yet our poorest (Distan) seems to get the nod every week. Now with Coleman, the scenario is slightly different. He is our best full back going forward, but probably untested is the best word to describe it defensively. We dont know how good he is defensively because he has never really been given a chance. However, in games like today, Coleman starting is a must. We look a far better team with him in the side, he gives us another option, one that we dont get from Neville and especially Hibbert. Dont get me wrong, Neville is the captain and his leadership is invaluable, and I think Hibbert is our best ´defender´but games against lesser teams especially at home need the attacking players on the pitch.

As much as I rate David Moyes as a manager, he needs to drop his loyalty towards players such as Neville, Hibbert, Distan and Osman, be brave and positive and throw in Coleman, Rodwell and Heitinga (CB) as this is what is best for the team. From what I was told, Moyes and Stubbs had an argument after the Blackburn game, as Stubbs told Moyes to ´stop picking your favourites and start playing Coleman and Rodwell.´Apparently Moyes didnt like it and they had a bust up. Perhaps Moyes´stubborness stopped him playing the pair today to prevent Stubbs being able to say I told you so if we won. What is definate is that if Moyes continues his loyalty towards these players, we are in for an average season at best.

Yes it is. But most of what he does is magic. I hope he stops the Hibbert, Neville, Osman nonsense soon. Billy wasn't a great replacement for Osman today, but he was still better.

It already has, mate. 1 point out of what should have been 6 -- to match our ambitions.

Moyes, for all his qualities, lacks balls. We needed those 3 points today, and bringing Osman on (to play RW no less), when Rodwell, Gueye, Coleman were sitting on the bench... shocking.

I have to disagree with you saying he's loyal to Distin though. I think he plays him because he's a great LCB. He was one of our best players today; an absolute monster.

Lids he doesnt have favourites. Osman is well better than Rodwell, Gueye and Coleman, everyone knows it. Id compare him to Messi but theres just no comparison. Osman always wins

You made this up mate?
This is something new to me.

hav to agree wit the cookie monster unless i heard it from DM OR AS mouth i wouldnt believe that ......aside from that "cost us our season" what exactly is our season going to be like....over the klast few yrs DM has magically got us to punch above our weight and he has to take the maj of the credit for doin so however i thought this yr people are exp0ecting us to challenge the top 4 ( which i personally hope) but challenge it a way that a higher position can be achieved and come march people are talkin bout us when they talk about the TOP of the lge much to my disappointment this aint gonna happen

I got told it a couple of days after the Blackburn game that they had had an argument, I'm not saying it's the gospel truth but I have no reason to doubt the source as it is usually reliable. With regards to Distan, Im currently abroad and didn't see the game today so I don't know how well he played today, but against Blackburn he was awful. He is far too clumsy for my liking and makes too many mistakes. Heitingas ability to use both feet takes away the need to have a 'left footer'. IMO at CB you need a defender (jags) and a ball player (heitinga). Them two should be our first choice and not Distan.

Is david moyes one of these manages that excel when the chips are down, when he doesn't have choices, when we have to battle.

are the players he has brought in better than his footballing tactics/brain.

something must have been said at half time for us to totally change tactics a revert to long ball, letting wolves back in the game.

I feel sick that i have bought a season ticket thinking the long ball days would be behind us, only to watch that [Poor language removed] in the second half.

at this moment i can't see the light at the end of the tunnel concerning out style of play.

Gutted.

We only seem capable of playing 45 minutes against low/mid table opposition. It happened a lot last season. Tactics are a big factor, yes, but so are the players themselves. Makes me wonder if most of them are actually really arsed when they come up against teams like Wolves and Blackburn. Motivation in certain areas is severely lacking sometimes..
