I'm curious what the public opinion on these are, being a pioneering band this side of the water during the 80's.

for those who think this is a history lesson, Iron Maiden are a massive metal band, who have the guitar solos, fantastic live songs and all round boss band. Hallowed be thy name is one of the best classic metal tracks going in my opinion, and with hits such as can i play with madness, run for the hills, fear of the dark to name a few, some might see them in the same light as others of the genre.

So whats it going to be?

btw if someone could add a poll that would be great :)

The imagery of Eddie was quite iconic, especially in my primary school at the time. I was a Kraftwerk fan, which led me into the Acid house and Rave scene. So the underground dance scene was, and still is my preference.

They made some interesting stuff though if you like Metal. Just not for me though.

Not a band I really listen to much, I do enjoy a bit of metal but don't listen to that much of it, and what I do tends to be of the death and black varieties, but I can see Iron Maiden were hugely influential and have done some tremendous stuff and are one of the most important bands in their genre so they get a yay from me.

Enjoy their mid 80's output - Number of the Beast through 7th Son, but like Blue 1, my \m/ tastes tend more towards extremes.

"Number of the Beast" and "Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" are on my jogging mix.

I owe my football allegiances to family but, as a young Yank metalhead growing up, my interest in the game I owe to Steve Harris and Kerrang! issue #396.

Staunch yay, from me.
