Ireland: it's looking 'banjaxed'

I thought the Pope visited Canterbury and wants a reunification of the Anglicans within the Church? Doesn;t sound like sectarianism.

No what I was trying to say (but it sounds like I failed), is that just because I'm anti pope, anti church teachings doesn't mean I hold prejudice towards those who are Catholics.

Almost posted my own anti-pope diatribe, but in the end decided to keep it to myself for the smooth running of the forum. Writing it helped anyway. (Agressive Secularism = dude where's my power base gone?)

But my problems with Catholicism have nothing to do with Catholics and everything to do with the Pope and the Vatican and a system that is having a negative effect on the world.

I think we should distinguish between criticism of the Catholic Churches negative policies and blatant sectarian prejudice. I don't have much love for any form of Christianity really though.

I agree. And I'm Catholic.

How the church can have the policy it does on contraception is ridiculous. HIV is one of the greatest threats to mankind in its history. It can bring down societies - just look at infection rates in parts of africa. A generation of child soldiers, aids orphans and economic devastation.

The current pontiff wasn't my choice.

This is one of the first points I would make. It enshrines the right for millions to die, spread a disease and for the innocent to suffer. And connected to is the problem of overpopulation as well.

But there are so many more issues.

However, the Catholic church shouldn't be defined in political terms either. Same for the Anglican church either.

Cynicism shouldn't be an excuse for prejudice

Canada is ace and the Canadians are boss. The -30 in the winter is going to sting though, sting real bad. And two weeks off a year and that. Mind you, that's balanced out by super steaks and Tim Horton's coffee.

In short: GO CANADA.

Chico, don't be so harsh. Winter is the nicest 11 months of the year in Canada.
