Not really if you know the background to it. Initially they were going to release IGZO panels, which would ahve meant a retina display and a thinner iPad. Sharp couldn't get the tech right, or produce the quantities needed. So Apple had to release a bulkier product.
When the iPad 3 was announced, there was a rumour that this was a stop gap and there would be an incremental update later on in the year, which came to be true. They updated the processor to give it some extra beef over the iPad 3, and gave it the new connector as well as making it 4G compatible for more countries.
Next year you'll see the iPad they wanted to introduce this year, namely the IGZO display version. It will be thinner, and either retain the same battery life as the previous generations of iPad's (10 hours), or possibly have an extended battery life.
I'd also envisage that the iPhone and iPad mini will both get IGZO displays next year too, provided Sharp can produce enough quantities. Battery life will be the main beneficiary for both devices. Again depending on yields, there could also be a MacBook Air with a retina display and thinner form factor thanks to the implementation of IGZO and Hazwell, as well as extended battery life for the MacBook Pro line. Goodbye Samsung, Hello! Sharp
As a side note, Samsung would have probably released three or four devices with that time frame of 7 months, so it's not that bad really.
