Heitinga was player of the season in his first year

Distin was superb (much better than Jagielka)

Bily was wonderful.

He didn’t win player of the season in his first year, Moyes played him out of position in midfield.

Distin was good for his age but always had a clanger in him. That Suarez one at Wembley still haunts me.

Bilyaletdinov was a terrible signing for big(ish) money at the time.

Moyes truly messed us up. We should’ve signed a CB (either Distin or Heitinga) a RB and a winger.

Although he didn't really turn out to be as good as we had hoped, we brought in Gibson and Jelavic in the same window we sold him and then had a big upturn in form. Would have been interested to see how he did if he had stayed... would personally have liked him to be available in that cup semi later that year - people talk how about how we bottled that game, but Pienaar was cup tied, Landon Donavans loan had ended, and Roysten Drenthe was a very naughty boy so none of the wide players we had been using were available.

Anyway, nice goals.
