Sky sports news are about to interview Pienaar on why he doesnt want to go to the ACN. Catch it if you can.

Steven Pienaar hopes to be given dispensation to play against Chelsea next week.
Pienaar is due to link up with South Africa for the African Cup of Nations on January 5.
That would cleary rule him out of the Carling Cup game at Chelsea on January 8.
But the midfielder is hoping to receive a call this week to clarify the situation.
“I’m supposed to be going on January 5 but we are trying our best so that I can stay for a bit longer,” said Pienaar.
“I hope we can agree on it because I am in between at the minute and there is nothing I can do.
“Maybe I will find out today or tomorrow. I am like any other player and I want to be involved in the big games.
“The semi-final with Chelsea is so important and I want to be a part of the team that goes to Stamford Bridge. You always want to play for your country but you also always want to play for your club."
South Africa kick off their campaign in earnest on January 23 against Angola.
“I’m stuck in the middle but I hope the association gives me a day free because they know how important this game is for me," continued Pienaar.
“It will be sad going away for so long especially when the team is doing so well. The spirit here is tremendous.”

That's great to hear. A player who is only on loan is absolutely desperate to play for us (y) I doubt we would have heard anything like this from f'in Fernandes

well, skybig4sports have just said

Steven Pienaar wants special dispensation to play in the semi final v Chelsea next week as he's due to meet up with SA team on Saturday.

That was it!
so much for an interview. They showed a few shots of him walking off the pitch yesterday though. Suppose that's pretty good exposure for a lowly team like us,
let us be grateful!:angry:

Apologies for getting everyone excited, should have known better really.

Good to hear from him though. I reckon he's a cert to be signed permanently in the summer. Perhaps a Howard'esq deal around Easter.

Moyes sure does like his try before you buy deals. Yobo, Arteta, Howard, Pienaar have all come via that route.
