Got a phone call before and I've made it to the third and final stage of the interview process for a job that I'm going for. I have to give a 5 minute presentation to 2 of the companies directors followed by questions. He said "the presentation can be done using any media and can be about anything of your choice, it can be about how to make toast if you wanted to".

The job in a nutshell is providing youth leadership courses in schools within the North West, to engage and motivate young people to achieve extra qualifications and improve life chances.

I'm guessing that they've only given me just over a day to do this to see how I adapt last minute and to see how I cope under 'pressure'?! I'm really confident about delivering a presentation because when I was in Uni I did literally hundreds of them. I'm just looking for peoples opinions on maybe what I could do the presentation on? Any advice, hints or tips on maybe what they are looking for? (Any serious answers would be much appreciated (y) ).

Thanks in advance lids! (y)

Seriously though, finish the interview with the question " Do you have any reservations about my ability? " if they have, you can defend yourself and put them at ease.

5 minutes isn't very long. You could do it about "motivation", "What motivates me", "Achieving goals". "Hitler Youth and Motivation" "The meaning of the song 'Another brick in the Wall'" or anything you like really. Good luck.

Some good ideas there cheers mate

Not sure about the content mate but as it's aimed at the youth and is about engagement then make sure parts of it are light hearted so the people you are talking too can engage with you. If you can show them you have the qualities to engage with them then engaging with kids wouldn't be a problem.

They are looking to see how confident you are and your stand up communications skills. If you have done lots of presentations this will be a doddle. Just think about how you organise your presentation, the Subject, What you will cover in the presentation, the Presentation Detail, A final Summary & Any Questions. You only have 5 minutes so if you use PowerPoint it's 5 slides max including the opening and closing slides. Pick a subject you really know or do something job related like "What makes a good youth leader ?" and discuss leadership and motivation........presentations are very personal things, just do what you are comfortable with, maintain eye contact with all the interviewers, be confident and smile......

Given the vacancy, they're obviously looking to see how engaging you are.

Make sure whatever subject you choose the presentation has a structured format & that you deliver it with some passion. Don't overdo the humour, an opening light hearted comment is fine, but if it's too jovial it could come across as being flippant, especially in such a short presentation time.

Good luck fella.
