I DON'T know the difference between a virus and a Trojan. Nor do I care what the difference is.... I just don't want my machine getting one. 600k macs may have caught something, but that's a drop in the ocean compared to the MILLIONS of windows-based pc's that catch the tech equivalent of ebola every year. Out of the box, macs are more secure. Sure, you can tinker with a windows pc to make it just as resistant (if not more so), but in order to do that you need a level of skill and knowledge that many don't possess. I've owned four windows pcs: three got infected (virus? trojan? don't know, but they died all the same) and one ran on vista so may as well have been infected. None lasted more than eighteen months, and all slowed down dramatically in the first year. Conversely, I have owned one mac: four years so far and still going strong. Never infected, never slowed down, never had to spend hours and hours every month installing patches or downloading security updates. Mac is the better option for my needs and my level of expertise (pretty much zero).Back on the original topic, it's a spiteful little scam. Very devious too, because in order to catch the virus (trojan, whatever) you have to have been doing something naughty on the internet. Many will pay up for fear of being caught out if they take their machine for repair.

you can get virus from just normal browsing, java have recently had a warning agaist it in the usa due to it being open to virus attack, your right about windows lately all i seen to be doing is getting ever more compicated virus or multi virus infections off peoples computorsl

you can mate they come out with new virus stuff as quick as the anti virus get up to date , its a game of cat and mouse, some like allure, attach to your system files and open your system to multi infections and set up a patision on your computor so even if you clean it with a scan as soon as your system files open it spreads again it a b to uninstall. Virus is a program that spreads from computor to computor like a human germ is the easyest way to imagine it, ...Trojan is as it says normally inside something that looks harmless, normally malware and adware genral rule dont open anything unless you have ask for it.

insane more like and dont pay anybody to do it eaither, bt are charging £70 to get rid of this one for there customers, you can google it and get the firmware to get rid for free, then scan in safe mode, its a version of smittfraud, normally just download the removal tool off the web, cc cleaner freeware, then a scan of a trial anti virus software, more time consuming than anything.

just dont open anything you havnt asked for mate and do scans with your anti virus software you should be sound, and dont install players or so called file veiwers on some site as there full of ****e. thats the most common way of getting them on footy sites ect.
