Is it me or are they really really jarg? In this country we have either Call Me Dave, Call me Ed, or the little Englander. Foreign politicians aren't impressive either, the Aussie PM is a horrible, nasty and foul cretin and Obama has been a bit lame. France, Italy Argentina, Brazil, all jarg too.

Merkel, tho'...

We need better bullies in our schools to stop these people from rising to the top

It's disturbing to me, the level of confidence that William Hague (for example) has. Bullies asleep at the wheel there like

A pity Hague didn't go for the Tory leadership in 2005 instead of 97. He is vastly superior to Dave and most others.

vehemently disagree. Hague would've been a huge danger to our civil liberties. At least Cameron is more cautious.

Remember when he said this in defence of the Snowden leaks?

That was a British politician being a British politician. Dave was exactly the same and has actually introduced unnecessary censorship

You're probably right. Sad, tho'.

Angela Merkel: German multiculturalism has 'utterly failed'
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/oct/17/angela-merkel-german-multiculturalism-failed

Thats some reet naughty racialism talk there that is.

She was frustrated. There's been issues like those from Muslim lands beating up their wives (who don't report it, as it's not in their culture to do so) and also examples of forced-marriages (again, something that's not reported). Germany want them all to be integrated into German society to the point that when a crime like this is committed, the victim feels its right to report it to the police.

A 7-point plant was initiated:
  • Germany offers integration not for living just next to each other, but for living with each other. This means all must live by the foundation roots of humanism and enlightenment we have here.
  • There will only be a controlled immigration flow, focussing on which positions in society require filling.
  • There will not be a points-based system of immigration. Cases will be dealt with on an individual level.
  • The will for the applicant to integrate, and the ability to do so, must be present in the application, regardless of qualifications.
  • The minimum age for applicants will be reduced from 16 to 12. It will be encouraged for more under-16's to apply, as these ages are more capable of integrating.
  • For successful applicants who are proven to dismiss integration once they are here, there will be sanctions in place: they must pay fees or their right to stay may be cut short. This includes any attempt by the head of the family in preventing his wife or children in integrating (or the mother preventing her children from integrating).
  • Learning German is a must, and must be proven there is a level already attained even before the applicant arrives in Germany.

Radical? Or sensible? It's perhaps not the most liberal policy, but liberal policies don't fix all the world's problems (and I say this as a left-leaner myself).

The gods forbid we ever suffer a terrorist attack here (we might, seen as Germany have stupidly decided to send arms to the Kurds to fight Isis, and have also supported Israel in the past with finances for equipment...dangerous political acts which may antagonise violent radicals to target Germany).

I support this 7-point plan, as it's looking towards long-term harmony by being strict now.

I think Merkel is one of the few top level politicians I have time for. I dont mind Hague and even though he is a complete bellend, I like George galloway's belief in his principals (not that I agree with him I must add). I cant stand the likes of Andrew Mitchell, Ed milliband, John Bercow; there seems to be a dwindling supply of decent principled politicians such as Jack Straw, Dennis skinner, Gwynneth Dunwoody who had values and stood for them. Most of the current just spout the party line and spew what they think will win votes and treat the electorate like idiots.

Ed Miliband's the template for this.

I like the old-school of Robin Cook, Ken Clark, John Prescott, John Major and the like. Principled fellas who are distinct from one another. Cameron, Osborne, Clegg, Miliband, Balls...there's something a bit cloney about them.
