It bores the living sh*te out of me for the most part. It also gives us far too many Everton free weekends, like this one.

I'd sack the qualifying off and just have the summer tournaments every two years like now with a pre qualifying round or something for the crap teams like Scotland.

That'll do it I reckon.

You take that back.

Butt and Owen are crap lad.

Out of the rest of them there is only Gerrard that was near the realms of world class I'm afraid and even then he didn't do it on the international stage.

The problem, as we point out time and time again, is the media and fans believing their own hype.

England are like the Newcastle of international footie, truth be told. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well they are now, but at the time both were class. And even now I think Owen is brilliant when he's fit. No other striker I can think of in the prem I'm more confident of scoring in a 1 on 1 situation. That team could have been really good. Then later we've had Cashley and Rooney etc etc. The players coming through have been good for a good number of years now. But for whatever reason we just dont seem to work as a team when it matters.

Anyway, at least we get to tournaments even if it is to ultimatly fail. FFS.
