Intensive driving course

I did one late last year. The course itself was good, although I did have prior experience and wasn’t learning from scratch.

The downside was that I already had a test booked, which they made me move to the test centre closest to their office; that particular centre is known to be a tough one and has the lowest pass rate in Birmingham.

As part of the course fee, the instructor you did the course with is supposed to be the one who takes you for your test. Despite knowing my test date, they gave me an instructor who would be on holiday for my test date. So the week before the test was stressful because they couldn’t find anyone to take me, only managing to get someone at the 11th hour. It also meant taking the test in a car I’d never driven before. I failed, which is obviously on me, but the build up to the test being a nightmare didn’t help.

The whole system is broken at the minute tbh. If you can get a course for a reasonable price (and make sure the instructor will be available for the test) then it might be worth doing.

Anybody used these, have any experience of them? My son wants to learn to drive ASAP,so is looking at doing it this way are they reliable or worth it over regular lessons
Would recommend mate.

I did a 6 day course. Started my lessons on a Wednesday and then had my test the following Tuesday and passed first time. I already had a car ordered to arrive a week after my test so pressure was on.

The package cost about £800 (Going back 13 years ago) and that was theory test booked and a retest if failed, a number of hours of lessons per day, rental of the car used for lessons for the test and test fee.

Only sensible thing i used a student loan for. Much better doing it the intesive way as you just repeat over and over again until you get things right then move on. Doing thay 1hr a week isn't a great way to learn.
