Player Valuation: £60m
Things change very quickly in football. In six months we have gone from having our best squad ever to having an ageing squad which needs to be overhauled.
At present I think we have five players over thirty out through injury (Hibbert,Distin,Osman,Pienaar and Howard).
We have two injured under the age of thirty including Gibson, it is hard to know if he should even be counted.

We can add Barry,Jagielka ,Alcaraz and Eto'o to the list of over thirties although Alcaraz apart these players are rarely injured.

We are going to have an active summer again as a good number of these over thirties will be past their sell by date.
In spite of the "phenomenal moment" in which the academy players are in there will realistically be no more than one or two at best ready to step up.

I do think this summer we may see departure/s to help finance the rebuilding .

When pundits go on about our ageing squad they don't realise how much Distin & Howard skew the average figures. Other than Baines, most of our best players are mid 20's or young guns.

Mirallas, McCarthy and Coleman have all had lengthy spells out due to muscle injuries this year and they are all comfortably under 30. Oviedo, Barkley, Stones, Barry and Alcaraz all suffered long spells on the sidelines due to impact injuries that equally have nothing to do with their age and that seems to be the case with Osman's tendon as well.

Although it typically takes longer to heal as you grow older, don't think our lengthy injury list this season has much correlation with the age of our squad tbh.

Only the first team. The squad is very old as shown by that list.

It depends if we get Europe or not. If we don't there will be no need and we can allow the oldies to either leave this summer or run down their contracts.

I don't think age has been the factor either. Apparently just playing for Everton is. Still doesn't change the general point of the age of the squad.

Lukaku, Coleman, Barkley, Stones and Garbutt are all quite young so when we replace the older squad members there's a good base of youth to build on. It's not as if it's the Walter Smith Days, when Distin and Hibbert would be considered youth players.

Friend we have been over this before in other threads about the over 30s and although there are many who would like to see the back of them the point is that it will be unlikely that you will see many leave because of contracts. The only two who one could say are definites are Osman, unfortunate injury, and Distin. The rest will still be here come next season. Look to who gave them stupidly long contracts.
