I might add that when the man my Dad knew contracted MS a few years ago she became unfaithful and now has about three other fellas on the go.... so yeah, maybe it is a shyt idea thinking about it - just wanted some unblinkered, impartial opinions.

If you do go with the bringing them back option, is it that easy for them to get a visa etc.? Could be a lot of red tape and not worth the hassle.

Not necessarily wife - just some female companionship and a few more opportunities to date. Presently I don't seem to have a lot of time on my hands for it unfortunately.

Certainly was. A lot of young lads go out there, get married while working in low paid teacher jobs that they only planned on doing for a year or two, and get stuck in decades of misery.

My (prospective) father in law is a bellend, but at least I only have to see him a couple of hours once every couple of months - it's very common in South Korea for in laws to move in with you. The horror.

Spot on, loads of guys come over as EnglishTeachers straight after Uni. Basically this is just a rushed course apparently and theyre just reading out of books to students in Asia (global I believe but on topic all over Asia).

Living in tiny apartments and transfixed by the allure of foreign women -- imagine being the centre of attention wherever you are. Not hard to pickup.

When you say the locals would think you are rich, you realise Indonesia has a class system where its common for a lot of people to have maids/servants/drivers etc. Theyre not stupid people and so more likely is for you to try and find a wealthy girl then hope she speaks with daddy to sort you out with a proper job....

you are after all the rich white westerner, or do you think the women there just love your witty repartee ?

This assumes the family is dirt poor for starters. I've actually never heard of anything like this happening in reality other than on TV some women getting alot of cash from 'husbands' and then divorcing them and taking the house etc....typical gold digger stories.

Have seen on tv stories about 'nice guys' (desparate I guess or romantic?!) Giving money away to family members etc but its a bit extreme.

My advice,

A-- Asia is a good choice for a holiday. Take a look at coming over for a week.

B-- Indonesia seems a bit random to me as its not the friendliest place generally and also you do need to be aware of your surroundings so a short trip seems a waste.Malaysia and Vietnam you can write off as well, Malaysia for the same reasons and Vietnam as hotels etc dont allow unmarried couples. Singaporeans very tough to catch and that leaves a load of naughty stuff there but at least you see the gateway into asia.

C-- Tokyo and Manila would be my top two cities to visit due to the safety level and quality service everywhere + language wouldnt be a problem.

Amazing fun and worst case situation is a great holiday and most likely you'd make some friends.
