I will find you and consensually bum you
Football is a funny old thing.
It can often incite the worst in us.

It can often incite the best in us.

Amidst all of the bitter rivalries, hatred and mockery (often justified - often not) there are sometimes moments of genuine warmth. Moments that highlight how much football can thread itself through every aspect of our lives.
In a good way.
Be it:
Laughing at our six fingered cousins latest shenanigans.
Good natured (mostly) rivalries with family and friends.
Convincing your spouse to have a blue and white themed wedding (replete with blue carpet shipped down the road from Goodison Park - oh yes).

In short, football is so ingrained into our everyday lives that it can sometimes be difficult to separate from it, even in times of stress.
Some of you may have noticed that I didn't post much if at all over the weekend. This was because my Grandad, at a sprightly eighty five years of age was taken into hospital.
Sadly, in the early hours of this morning he passed away following several days of confounding the doctors (and us) that had been keeping watch at his bedside.

My Grandad was a red, but the old school type who would (genuinely) wish Everton well. The family listened to the match in his room at the Royal and despite the morphine and the last minute equaliser (is right Jags) I've rarely seen him as happy as he was then, with his family around to share in his last derby.
Football is a funny old thing.
I may not have posted much over the last few days but reading and laughing at GOT has helped me to get through what has been a very difficult time.
So thank you Everton and GOT (not you @Kurt you snide lol) and I will finish with something my Grandad said that (I believe) proves that there is still hope yet for our misguided red neighbours.

Gerard had just scored and my cousin asked if he was made up and had he put a bet on?
My Grandad replied, 'no son, I'm not.
I had Everton down for the win this time!'
R.I.P. Grandad.
Edit: just a quick thank you for all of the posts and well wishes. I was unsure whether or not to post this but with the derby connection it just felt right.
Is right GOT.
