@-Rob-A router would definitely help.
Some things you could try but not guaranteed to work,
switch between 2/5ghz,
Move the box around to a place with nothing blocking it beside or in-front of it.
Change the frequency channels your 2/5ghz are on some other people might be in your area using the same channel.
Turning on and off every couple of weeks can help.
My son does not use the plusnet router he bought a far superior one .....Disappointed @Joey66, was hoping you were going to suggest a diy solution using redundant dyson parts and empty low fat tomato tins.
It has there billing department is new as they have gone on a cloud server which has caused problems I have been with them for years the customer support is curtious, and not offshore - I can ask my son who is a PC Microsoft qualified engineer to look at this thread and maybe he knows a cheap reliable fix for the poster , but @Bungle is usually good !
Only stonewall old cottages have caused him problems then it's a cable and drill job for good WiFi......
At least he's not a bodger like you Bungle - there's me praising you to no availYou should have mentioned that before Joey....

I've been with virgin for the last 5 years. Fantastic Internet but expensive. Unfortunately we've moved house to an estate that can't get virgin.Plusnet is 1 of the worst Internet providers you can get.
My daughter had it for a year, it was constantly off all the time and was just horrific.
Really bad company. As soon as her contract was up she went to Virgin.
Personally ive never had any issues with Virgin, I had a few issues like last year but that was down to a faulty modem, they sent me a new 1 and other than that I cant complain at all and ive been with them for about 20 years. Wouldnt go with anyone else myself.
There are many estates around Swindon where ypud struggle to find a virgin too.Unfortunately we've moved house to an estate that can't get virgin.
Makes sense 2.4ghz is more robust than 5ghz... It use to annoy the claims ISPs make about their WiFi, they must literally test in a box which is inside a faraday cage and make wild claims, not my game anymore. If you are ever inclined to buy new kit to get the best out of the internet, use distant selling regulations to your advantage, So Amazon etc. As broadband and WiFi is very subjective to your circumstances. So far the 2.4 network seems to be the strongest and quickest signal through the house so I've connected the TV and my phone to that. Both have seemed to work pretty well since so I'll have to give it a few days to see if it consistently works well
Am I translating this correctlyI've recently moved house and signed up to broadband from PlusNet after several recommendations from friends. The speed of the internet doesn't seem to be a problem, it's running consistently at 45mbps which is fast enough but I'm having problems with the WiFi signal consistency around the house. The WiFi signal to the TV in the lounge is particularly bad.
What are my options for improving the signal to all devices in the house?
I've considered the option of purchasing a better router but I wouldn't have a clue how to set it up once I received it. Any help on that side of things?
I tried a butt plug. It's not really my cup of tea.I had the same problem mate, one of those plug in boosters made ours better
