I'm not sure to be honest. Financially definitely. But as a competition I think fans in general are bored of it especially compared to the early 2000s when the games had a sense of anticipation about them

Yeah I’m of the same opinion - I live in London these days, have a few mates who support the London clubs - they genuinely don’t give a shot until knockout… kind of almost guaranteed to get there in the current format.

The grip of the those financially involved is permanent, TV broadcasters the clubs owners and of course those who run the various competitions. The fans have no say anymore.

Got to admit I quite like the format. If you are fan of side you are guarenteed a few big matches at home. A couple of matches against teams you can a get a result from. Here’s hoping in a few years
