Your not that cynical and proud to believe its about money are you ? Come on mate, they could've gone to Russia or Qatar and earned twice as much if not more. The money is a bonus, playing for a team challenging for honours is what its about. No player looks at his bank account with fondness when he retires, you want medals, finals, stories of playing against the best and with the best, thats where the Champions League comes in.
Lescott has actually been immense for City in the past 12 months, he had a poor start in terms of injuries and form, but i know several City fans who say he (along with Kompany) have been rocks, and they are really pleased with them. Its not really relevant how they've done when they left here anyway. It looks like we'll have to agree to disagree on this one though because there is absolutely no way in my mind any player makes a step up with money on his mind. For instance, if Spurs and City had offered parity on the wages they earned here, i still think the deals would have gone ahead.
As for the Chelsea deal, there is absolutely no proof in suggesting he ****ed Chelsea off for Spurs purely for financial reasons. The system that Chelsea play don't particularly use wingers, perhaps he felt he had a better chance of getting into the Spurs team out wide than he did at Chelsea's. I still insist that money is at best a secondary consideration in any move of a top professional in the prime of his career.
