If you were Everton manager right now, what would you do next?

I was going to make this after the Atalanta game but on reflection I think now seems a better time considering our 'nightmare fixture period' is now out of the way.

We're coming off the back of 4 straight (and frankly depressing) defeats, shipping goals without scoring any ourselves, and everyone at the club is understandably not feeling too great.

The team has been considerably tinkered with in recent times and it most definitely hasn't helped our form, but the masochist in you would've perhaps considered it a necessary endevour in order to find out more about the glut of new players that are being introduced into an almost entirely new setup compared to last season.

With everything that we've seen so far, what would you now do as manager of Everton? What would you say to the squad/certain players given the run of fixtures we now have ahead of us? How would you line the team up/what system would you play going forward? How would discussions go between you and Steve Walsh/the board regarding January and beyond?

Genuinely interested to read some thought out responses.

Well I wouldn't have gotten into this mess in the first place, and played with pace and width against Chelsea, Spurs, Atalanta and United. Sure we might still have lost a few, but nowhere near the manner in which we actually have.

1. Say sorry to the fans for what they've had to witness so far.
2. Sack Erwin and bring in Unsworth as assistant.
3. Apologise to Ross Barkley for what he's had to suffer through and speak to the board about sorting his future out.
4. Smile next to Barkley as he signs his new deal.
5. Go unbeaten, winning the lot.

100% expected this to be the first response. Good job.

Ha realistically I would re-evaluate my squad and build a formation to match it.

Its totally pointless playing 4231 or whatever as we don't have the player to do so.

What we maybe could do is play a diamond in midfield.

Pickford to play every game. Why mess around in the cups?

Not really sure who to play at right back as all of them have strengths and weaknesses. Would probably go with Holgate or Kenny and maybe have Martina to come off the bench of we are losing, say what you want about him he has pace an can cross a ball. Regardless of who plays there they need help from the midfield.

Baines has to play left back as we have no options there.

Keane and one of Jagielka or Williams at the back. Ideally neither of them would play but again we have no other options.

One of Gueye or Schneiderlin in a defensive role.

Lennon on the right, Mirallas or Lookman on the left. We lack pace but more than pace we need energy. They all provide that no matter how average/not ready they are.

Sigurdsson as the number 10, Rooney and Calvert Lewin up front.

I dont even think its a great formation but baring in mind what we have at our disposal I dont see what else we can do. Fill the bench with young hungry players.
