At the minute i feel wel be beat 2-0 , my mood and optimism will prob have grown come matchday so the disappointment will be that much greater when it actually happens .
I think people are being a bit too negative. Spurs haven't strengthened at all and we handled them well both times we played them last season.
Even considering Moyes' inevitable negative, stale lineup, I just can't see us losing.
Everton haven't strengtened either first results of the new season throw up some odd scores but i just get get my head around Everton being victorius . I will be there
Oh God I know we haven't strengthened! But still, when playing teams that come out and attack us, we hold our own. And I think we will again next week.![]()
You're underestimating how unbelievably piss poor we are at the start of a season. Unfortunately Everton don't turn up at all till the turn of the year, and Tottenham are good enough to exploit that.
Can honestly see a carbon copy of the Villarreal game.
We started the past two seasons horribly, but in terms of the first games I think there's context.
Last season we lost 1-0 to Blackburn. We started okay and then that horror show gifted them a goal. They then defended for the rest of the game and we couldn't break them down -- a recurring, and still existing, problem. However Tottenham are an attacking team so this won't be an issue. They will not shut up shop.
The season before we lost 6-1 to Arsenal. Arsenal always seem to beat us because, in my opinion, we're "Arsenal lite". We play good passing football, without much of an end product. They play better passing football though, and have a bit more of an end product. However the main factor in this game was the Lescott fiasco. Everyone was unsettled and Lescott was played when he wanted to be wearing a different shade of blue. Assuming we don't have a last minute transfer debacle with Jagielka, this also will not be a problem against Spurs.
If we're Arsenal Lite, does that mean we're Barcelona Zero ?
Because i'll take that title.
