Never going to happen but if we got 33 points from our last 11 games where do u think we would finish? Last season this would be enough for second but looking at the table I don't think that is possible this season. Shows how good the top six teams have actually been this year.

Top 4 I'd imagine with another 33 points, need Arsenal to drop 5 points to over take them, which you can see happening, we won get 33 points thought unfortunately

81 points is a title winning total a lot of the time but I can't see it even being enough for top 4, this year.
It would require one of arsenal or liverpool to get less than 22 points from 10 games and both have been better that.

Shows how bad the bottom half of the table have been that the top 7 are racking up these huge point tallies, like.

We'd come 3rd if the seasons trends continue.

Chelsea would win the league on ......86
City ............................................. 83
Us. .............................................. 81
Scum ............................................ 80
Arsenal ......................................... 80
Spurs ........................................... 69
Utd .............................................. 65

Obviously very unlikely, if you add our average in we will end up with 67 points and finish 6th

i find this season to be amazing in the fact that the bottom half of the league has a massive gap to the top. Newcastle are going from one to the other with winning and losing runs but generally we are in half a league now.

Said a week ago every game we have now until the end of the season is winnable on paper. Things odnt go to plan but the fact our big games are at home now gives us a big advantage. We wont get 33 points but in theory it is still possible.

I would probably wager there is 10 more goals out of lukaku to go as well, if we bloody pass to him more!

Maybe if we win every game, and Chelsea, City and Liverpool all go on a business trip and mysteriously disappear...

Slightly off topic but does anyone hava a list to hand (or link) of our end of year pt tallies & places under each year of Moyes?

I can trawl thru wikipedia to compile it but guess someone else has already done it and I am basically lazy at heart.

Doesn't take much trawling, you lazy git.

7th, 59 pts. 17th, 39 pts. 4th, 61 pts. 11th, 50 pts. 6th, 58 pts. 5th, 65 pts. 5th, 63 pts. 8th, 61 pts. 7th, 54 pts. 7th, 56 pts. 6th, 63 pts.

So far we've got 48 pts from 27 games, or 1.7 points a game and we've played all of our hardest away games. If we can keep that points tally up, and we should exceed it giving our remaining fixtures, we'd finish on 67 or 68 points which would be our best total since Harvey and the good old days.

cheers allezfan that was exactly the info I was wanting to know but am too much of a lazy git to find out myself :-)

81 points will mean 2nd or 3rd

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are not expected to break the 80 points mark, at least not both of them

As for 4th, current projection gives 4th place 78 points but it will drop as the season progresses and Arsenal/Liverpool drop points

For us to have a chance of 4th, we must win 7 or 8 of the remaining 11 games while drawing the others

If we got 33 points it would mean we automatically be 6 points closer to Arsenal by virtue of beating them at home and a game in hand. That would mean we would only need them to drop another 6 points which looks likley given their fixtures, so yeah it would mean 4th but unfortunately as mentioned we won't get 33. If you take the heart out of it 18 to 20 points would be about right, and a very good return based on previous seasons. Unfortunately I don't think even winning every game would have a chance of finishing above the RS as I just don't see them dropping 9 points.
