If we weren't everton

'Everton' is an extremely provincial name for a major football club. I like it though, it's unique like Juventus.

Imagine Everton winning titles and dominating in Europe, 'Everton' would sound intimidating unlike 'Chelsea' or 'Man City' for example.

One of the many, many things I love about Everton is that it was founded by people imaginitive enough not just to name the club after the city, but of an area within it.

T'other day though, a random thought crossed my mind. What if we hadn't been called Everton. Other cities with two teams often go down the route of united or city.*

Would we be the United, or the City in Liverpool? Or wedsnesday, or albion , or wanderers, or rangers?

I think we'd be City but for absolutely no reason other than a hunch. Perhaps it's the blue

*apart from Newcastle, who are unnecessarily called united, the attention seeking vanity whores
We would simply be ordinary..
