If Karl Pilkinton played Bane

I know you didn't mate, I was just having a bubble. But you're totally right. There are loads of people who are "too cool for school" and I'm not into all that. I do love to discuss and disect comedy though, it's usually got so many layers (like the DVD of Dodgeball). It splits opinions and keeps so many people happy, and gives all the others something to say. Gervais used to be perfect at that.

I haven't seen a lot of his newer stuff, the old folk's home thing Derek didn't really do it for me, it was okay, nothing more, but when you've made one of the best comedy shows of all time in The Office, it's always going to be downhill from there isn't it?

Monty Python never topped The Life Of Brian, Harry Enfield & Chums never topped, well, Harry Enfield & Chums.

Sick Boy on Trainspotting nails it: "First you've got it, then you lose it, and it's gone forever, in all walks of life" "What about the Untouchables?" "****ing sympathy vote"

yeah i think the "Derek" series in the old folks home was more an exercise in evoking emotion rather than all out comedy, it worked to an extent in that respect but wasn't really my bag either. Extras definitely has it's moments though, Vinnie Jones having a go at supposed hardman Ross Kemp dressed as some sort of Napoleon character, Kate Winslet giving advice on ****ty phone sex, and Gervais absolutely nailing the physical comedy when trying to chat up a girl but ending up with a nose full of fizzy water, great series.

But Monty Python and the Holy Grail absolutely p!sses all over Life Of Brian mate!

Haha I did enjoy extras, I think Merchant is really underrated in the partnership there (and everything else they write).

There's no need to make a choice out of Grail or Brian, they're both ace!

Merchant is a comedy beast in Extras, where he gets the girl back to his flat and has to try and rid them of a massive dump he's just had which is giving him a bit of a complex while she eats an ice cream sundae is just sublime.

"I'm just mashing it up"
