First of all, I don't think Roy Hodgson is a racist.

Secondly, I can see why he's selected Terry over Ferdinard and why he couldn't have both of them in his camp. They are both strong personalities, both have captained their country and having them in the dressing room could polarize the squad. There is a chance of that happening and Hodgson chose not to take that chance.

Third, over the season, Terry has been the better defender than Ferdinard. I know he's a pig-headed, arrogant **** and Hodgson's going for what he can produce on the pitch. Making it a black-white issue is disingenuous. life sometimes is not that simple. as a person mixed raced heritage, i've learnt to understand this. of course, there are racial issues in football that needs to be addressed but that is a reflection of society and it shouldn't be left to football to be whipping boy of racial ills.
 
I don't get this whole Ferdinand 'lack of respect thing, they've been reporting it on SSN. Hodgson has to make decisions about who he wants in the team and by not picking Rio he's not disrespecting him, he just doesn't want him there.
 
Literally fuming that race is even being brought into this. This country is ****ing barmy.

Roy didn't have a problem selected Johnson or Lescott or Defoe or Welbeck or Young or Walcott did he? Roberts to me is exactly the kind of person who loves playing the race card.

I'm sorry, Jason Roberts is a nice guy and talks a LOT of sense most of the time, but he's been a complete and utter prick here. Tbh a lot of the time he's spoken about racism I've thought 'oh ffs stop being over dramatic'. Not to say that racism isn't abhorrent and has no place in football, but no Jason football hasn't been 'set back years' because of whats gone on recently. We have 1 case of convicted racism which has been dealt with and punished accordingly, and 1 case which is still pending, of which I would be very surprised came back guilty. Both of which were verbal, not physical, one of which if convicted was in the heat of the moment. Hardly Ukraine are we? And to agree with the original post, I think Hodgson SHOULD sue him. Completely ludicrous what he's said here.
 

Is Roberts really saying in underlying tones that Hodgson didn't pick him because he's black or because of the support of his brother vs Terry, or his Roberts just having a rant in general? Whole article, whilst making some excellent points, just doesn't seem to tie together for me. Confused.
 
Ferdinand's been a bit shaky for a while now. I assumed that's why he wasn't included in the squad. It didn't occur to me that Terry might be the reason. I don't think Hodgson's being accused of racism in this article- he's being accused, along with the FA, of not appreciating the seriousness of the Terry/Anton F situation. Slightly different. I think it's a good piece personally.

ANTON FERDINAND DIDNT EVEN HEAR TERRY. NO ONE ON THE PITCH REACTED.

It was a fan who raised the issue, and now everyone's all :o including the footballers.
 

He actually makes some good points, it's just a shame it's titled "Hodgson's A Racist"*
