... in the transfer window, how would you like to think we would line up against the Arse?

For me, I would go something like this:

......................Howard.....................

Naughton ....Yobo ....Lescott ....Baines

Defour ....Neville .......Cahill.... Pienaar

......................Fellaini.......................

...........................Jo.........................

There are a few reasons I've gone for this.

Firstly, Jo. I don't think that Yak will be back for the start of the season. I really hope so, but I can't see it.

Next, Defour out wide. I know he's best suited to inside right, but there are a few options there. Naughton could overlap with Pip dropping back to RB whilst he bombs up the wing. Secondly, should we need a change, Naughton could play on the right properly allowing Pip to drop back into RB full time and allow Defour to play inside right.

Lastly, Cahill & Screech. Depending on how well Fellaini's pre season goes, I would feel more comfortable playing him off the lone striker as opposed to a more conventional midfield role. Simply because Cahill looked the better of the 2 there last season. If however he has a belter pre season there, then switch them.

I would be very happy with that, considering we don't even have our key players in it.

A bit optimistic, but I feel like every soccer fan feels that way during silly seaon

the team looks stacked to me with the exception of Defour on the right, I wouldn't mind Neville playing RB and giving that Naughton boy a run on the wing.

Well I'm trying not to let silly season get to me too much!!

Yeah, I suggested plying Naughton there myself, it would mean that Defour could play inside right which is apparently his preferred position.

when's 'teta gonna be back? i didn't realize just how much we're missing him till i looked at that lineup (not that its bad, its just that most of our players seem very defending minded (naughton, neville) or very attacking minded (cahill, fella), without any sort of midfield general to link up. its hard to explain, but neville is just barely offensively minded enough for midfield, and cahill is just barely defensively minded enough for midfield, so it seems like we might just be leaving a gap.

and honestly i know people won't like it, but i don't think it'd be a good idea to start naughton at right back for the first game, i would instead prefer

howard

neville yobo lescott baines
rodwell
osman pienaar
cahill fellaini
vaughan

vaughan has the pace to be a good solo striker, especially with strong support from cahill and fellaini. jo is a great striker but he's not as fast as vaughan, and i don't think he holds up the ball quite as well as he could, so i don't think he'd work as a solo striker. as much as people don't like osman at right wing, he's done well for the team over the years and has come up with important goals and hasn't really dropped in quality, so i think it'd be really harsh not to give him a chance to keep his starting spot. hopefully gosling will give him strong competition this season.

hopefully rodders is up to the task of playing controlling defensive mid. i still don't think we've quite filled the void left by carsley, neville did a great job there last season but i'd rather he played his natural defensive position if rodwell can step up to the challenge.

This is boss only because it is realistic. I know this is all hypothetical like, but can't we for once not count the chickens before they hatch. Where has the respect for superstition gone? If neither sign, I'm blaming this thread and this thread alone. Close thread.

Superstition eh? It's more about cynicism on here tho lad.

Code:
             Howard

Neville Yobo Lescott Baines

Pienaar Cana Arteta Ledley

              Cahill

                Jo

Then again even if we buy them they probably won't play until they know the "Everton way".

Oh goody. Formations getting posted again.

I love the transfer window.

hmmm
