If blatter gets his way !!!

Just started thinkin about Sepp Blatters plans to introduce the 6+5 rule next season (Which means all teams will have to have 6 plyers eligible to play for england in the starting XI). If he can prove it does not contravine rules of employment within europe. But he says he is confident it will happen.

After laughing my tits off about the teams that will have a fire sale, for example Arsenal had no english players starting agianst Roma and Walcott came on.

The RS could probably muster 2 or 3 english players ha ha ha.

But then it occurred to me that if the rule did come to fruition then all of the good english players will be in high demand and no doubt all the CL teams will circle for our english talent!!!!! Although Arteta is a british citizen and hasnt played for Spain, does this make him able to be one of our 6 ???

What do you think and can we fend off the CL teams from taking our englishmen !!!!

We had a similar thing years ago when each club was only allowed four or five foreign players and it did'nt really affect us badly, the only problem we found was that Southall, Sheedy etc where classed has foreigners.

And they still would be under the 6+5 rule

What about Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham, they will all have to have 6 welsh players in their starting XI..... There all gonna end up in the Blue Square Premier !!!!!

Sure they would but fear not, we are rarely recognised by Europe's finest meaning it is unlikely that anyone would come in for our English players. UEFA and FIFA have ruined Everton before today, we wont allow it to happen again!

This is LONG overdue . I personally think that it is nothing short of a disgrace that an English side had not one English player within its ranks for a European game . Its not rocket science to see why England have disappeared of the International map is it ? Sooner it is brought in the better .

The damage has already been done though concerning diving . See Scott Parker the other week against Wigan Ath its not ingrained .

Bet Wenger ****s bricks if it comes in :lol:

Could someone explain to me why the 6 + 5 rule isn't one of the dumbest things anyone has ever proposed? I can't figure out how this is supposed to help football in any way.

Also, how is this not going to affect the tactical decisions that managers can make during a game given that at least 6 "nationals" have to be on the pitch at any one time? Forget 6 + 5 - from a tactical perspective, many managers will likely opt for a 9 + 2 to give themselves maximum flexibility.

I really can't see how this rule would pass muster with the EU. And I guarentee you it would kill the quality of the EPL in no time...

all english back four ftw!

Actually we could potentially field an all English team of players that have had premier league experience, how many other teams can say that!

...................Vaughan

I think that would be a pretty impressive starting XI, er except for Ruddy in goal. Give the youngsters a couple more years and I could see this team beating most current PL sides. Haven't even included Arteta!

Seriously hope this rule goes through.. we'll be laughing! :lol:

Not a good idea. Tops clubs will take the best English players, the teams that lose these English players will still have to field English players, therefore leaving them in a position where they have to play lots of **** players...

Not only that, but its against the law and rightfully so. In terms of football keeping its roots, it'd be very good, but I think it would be outrageous if foreign players were excluded. Reminds me of black economic empowerment here in SA (n)
