Iconic band members impossible to replace

The Qeen/Freddie Mercury thread got me thinking. The consensus is that Freddie basically was Queen. So who else's departure/death would completely destroy bands?

Icons like Keith Moon*, John Bonham* Brian Jones and Bon Scott were all replaced successfully but surely those groups wouldn't have survived without Pete Townshend**, Jimmy Page**, Mick Jagger or Angus Young**



*Drummers are generally easier to replace though these were big shoes to fill.

**Some lead guitarists are obviously more important than the lead singer.
