What boots were they mate ?

No idea, it was the start of budding soccer career and I was only ten or eleven, before I went on to become professional and famous -- anyhoo, I joined this local team and they gave me a run out for a half becasue I had impressed in training. We got this direct free kick and I insisted on taking it because I'm a selfish git that was spoiled by my parents so had an over developed sense of entitlement. I curled it over the wall and hit the crossbar -- and they (my teamates) all got butthurt and turned on me. Hypocrites, if it had gone in they'd have kissed my ass. I ised to practice those free kicks all day long in a field behind my house so I was quite good at them. Anyway, I didn't like their tone with me so I tore off my jersey and threw it at one of them and told them to all [Poor language removed] off and stuff their club. I marched off the field and to the nearest phone box and rang my dad to come and collect me. That was the end of my football career.

another of football's "what could've been..." tales, sad when you hear of talent wasted like that

anyway, Jack Sharp used to play for Everton and he had a sports shop. maybe it was him.

Could have been Jack Sharpe; just one of those things that pops into your head; its my only Everton ancedote. Back to me: I know, I was a waste of talent -- gutting for the football world. Maybe I was just too beautiful, I'm not sure. Actually that sounds good. Yes, I'll go with that.

JOE BLOGS: Cor, that lad had talent, he was a right un he was.

OTHER JOE BLOGS: I know, whata player, but he was just too beautiful for his own good.

JOE BLOGS: (shakes head ruefully) I know, Alf, I know.

I got a pair of football boots in a sports shop in Dun Laoghaire in about 1980 - anyhoo, this old lad who sold them to me told me he used to play for Everton. I wonder who he was? He probably wasn't that old, but to a 10year old everbody over 12 looks old. He was about 50 at a guess. Irish bloke, from Dublin going by his accent .

how much for the pair?

Reminds me of the joke in Father Ted about Jack having a trial for liverpool... "no dougal, he was ON trial IN liverpool".

Some lad punched me in the face before and the scramble what followed I managed to grab one of his trabs, I could swear he played for Madrid once, he was about 6ft tall and had bad breath, could anyone tell me who it was?

Panic that show. It never gets old. Caused ruptions when it got aired here back in the nineties. A mate of mine used to do the driving for Dermot Morgan's stand up - said he was a rather withdrawn type. I heard John Cleese is the same.
