I will say this...

We can't keeplaying catch-up though , Shrimp' .

Plus , our HARD games are imminent .

This side has a shelf life . They need to achieve or I promise you it will break up . Thus , this is the LAST thing we wanted / needed .

No questioning any of that...I'm just surprised I'm not as down as I'd be in the past and that's really down to what I see on the pitch, as a whole. We're much more composed than we have been in the past, which is a very good sign, and there are some other things that I'm seeing.

It's there...we just need that Kevin Brock moment. Some money wouldn't hurt, either.

Ok, we still lost today, but do at least try to be optimistic. Yes, I know, it's kinda difficult right now, but the positives are there and we did boss a quite decent Villa side today and only for the lapse of concentration I think we would've came away with the points. Everton are too good a side to NOT turn the corner. Keep the faith lads.(y)

I agree with the OP, there certainly seems to be a different, almost arsenal-esque approach to our play now and maybe that transition is having an effect on our overall threat to the opposition. Its all very pretty pass and move without too much penetration and as has been already agreed by most, maybe its just the right type of forward we need to complement our general play. Im not worried , YET.

Didn't venture onto the match thread after the game so apologies if this mentioned already. 3 mistakes and 3 goals and apart from having no edge on the right/upfront the main issue for me right now is Mikel and Felli not adequately protecting the back 4. Mikel slowed it down today to the point that one missed pass from any of the midfield and the Villa runner was away with no cover and the likes of the unforced slip from jags as he struggled to get across. I agree Seamus should be in on the right for the Utd game but then have someone tracking ie Fellini for anyone breaking from midfield as an insurance policy against our attacks breaking down and allowing an attack into open space. If seamus is playing then have Mikel closer (not quite out on the wing) to him as opposed to Felli.

This merely as a means of reducing the pressure on the defence somewhat. Crazy that we otherwise make it a breeze for other teams to attack us and then score with relative ease. Sort this out and think we'll create more on our terms rather than expecting a breakaway when we're left flat footed near oppos area. So really a change in defence tactics than personnel so we can turn the largely good approach play into goals.

Conspiracy theory:
Bill "Oh Davey darling, I love you Davey but what went wrong today, we couldn't break those luvvies from Brummie down"

DM "Ye ken what e meen when a tell ya we need a fa'kin winger maan, wee Jack, oor own fa'kin lev' child, the proodigal hamself oot there an' we still canne' get a croos en. A thoot starten' wi' 5 centre mid's wud de tha track but we cud ne' make tha killer fa'kin baw"

Bill "Oh Dave, I'll go an see the Galaxy Davey Baby, he's got such nice cheek bones that Donovan chap, I'm sure he'll suit a widow twanky outfit if he doesn't perform on the pitch"

DM "Aye, get yer fa'kin beg gee arse oot there befoor tha windi shats"

I agree with Gwladys btw, had a depressing night shift last night but the play looked good in spells if not particularly effective, reckon we're a fit Yak away from being a threat, took solace from that white lot from North London (someone tell me a derogatory term for them please) & the shittee losin' to worse opposition than Villa. Horrible to go into the international break on the back of that tho'

I think we need to stretch teams more, we are so left sided. its time to play coleman. if we continue to control games like we did today, we shouldn't concern ourselves with this coleman can't defend business (i think its bollocks anyway).

we also need more creativity behind the striker. Cahill just gets in the way most of the time and takes to long thinking what to do when he has the ball. he either gets tackled or takes to long to find the right pass and we loose momentum.

I would make these two changes against utd and really have ago. Also jags really has to work on his passing.
