I want to see us build something

You will never win anything with kids, famous words spoken by a moron, most people consider those words to be untrue, but they are actually very true, the cornerstone of the class of 92 was a few older heads amongst the young lads.

Nobody ever will win anything with kids.

3 Full England Internationals 23/24 years old: Pickford/Keane/Barkley
6 U21 England Internationals: Kenny/Holgate/Davies/Dowell/Lookman/DCL
2 High potential Full Internationals: Vlasic/Onyekuru

David Unsworth won the u23s league last year and strengthened with a few signings including Lewis Gibson and Dennis Adeniran (England u17 /18s) and we also have others such as Connolly and Walsh on loan and unknowns such as Nathangelo Markelo (Holland u19s).

The way we get into the top 4 isn't making signings to impede the progress of these players, its by signing more and more top young players and developing a team ethic with pride, passion, togetherness and love for a manager and a club.

Forget about signing Sigurdssons, Costas and Cavani's and lets build on the young team we are growing, sign the next wave of stars and be known as 'The Peoples Club who play exciting attacking football with pride and passion'.

'School of Science'
'The Holy Trinity'
'The Dogs of War'

Which non-Evertonian even knows these relate to us?

Joe Royle, John Ebbrell, Duncan Ferguson, David Unsworth and others are the framework and stability inside the club. Steve Walsh comes with strong pedigree and looks like he can pick out young talent.

We may need to be patient for a few years as the kids develop, but i'd be more interested seeing us build something gradually from youth than signing older players and being happy with top 6/7 like the last 20+ years.

Look at Ryan Sessegnon at Fulham, played 30+ games at 17, would he rather be a 2nd choice at United or Spurs or would he join us for high chance of a starting place with other young stars who show merit? Wouldn't it be great if these types of players joined us because they will play, wouldn't it be even better if they asked their agents to speak with us first and aspire to join us?

The questions which are being asked about finishing 5th or 6th because 'that's the best we can hope for' aren't true, football is cyclical and we have an amazing opportunity here to build the best Everton team in most of our lifetimes.

Howard Kendall would have loved the young players we have, he signed 19 year old Trevor Steven (for example) and was amazing at mixing youth with experience. Joe Royle could have done wonders with this young team as well.

We need to stop hoping that a big name manager (Mourinho now Ancelotti) will come in for a couple of years and instead look at how we can create a dynasty.

I see this moment as being a very exciting opportunity for Moshiri and Kenwright to really build a team fit for a world class stadium.

Will they keep hanging onto Koeman, or go for another Koeman type short-term appointment based upon a big playing name and possibly success with superstars or will they research which managers have won trophies building young teams.

I cross my fingers.
Lovely fantasy and that's all it is. Real world football doesn't work like this. I've been watching football for over fifty years and I've seen 'golden generations' and youngsters destined to be superstars more times than I'd like to count. Most never make the transition to 1st team football. Those that do turn out to be decent rather than great. Nowadays the odd one that does fulfil his promise will not hang around waiting for a team to 'develop' he will be snapped up by the bigger clubs to play top flight champions league football, without a glance back. That is the reality.
Nice dream though.

Onyekuru should be recalled if possible was the stand out for me in the Anderlecht team on Wednesday night.

I think a front three lining behind the striker consisting of Barkley, Vlasic and Onyekuru could be brilliant. All three different players and interchangeable would be very dynamic. I think Ramirez can become a player needs time though.

He can't be recalled as it's a season long loan and even if he could can't actually play for the club until he meets the criteria for a work permit or obtains citizenship in Belgium as that is where his football development has been, believe he may qualify for that next summer but don't quote me on it

I think Davies Kenny Lookman and Vlasic all should play more. DCL getting lots of time is encouraging and of course Pickford and Keane are good. But to think an entire team under 24 lads are all going to be solid players at prem level is a bit of a stretch. It's a long term commitment at any rate and requires a long term manager. Koeman isn't that

The problem we have is that as soon as one of our youngsters shows any potential we sell him.

For me we see youth as a profit. We invest in youth, and buy youth purely so as we can sell. And we usually then use the money to replace them with old aged mediocrity.

The ones listed have all played 1st team football for us and are already premier league standard.

They wont be all under 24, they age like the rest of us :) keane will be 25 in a few months.

It depends on the manager and if we have a pipeline of players being developed. If we signed Sessegnon for say 30mil then he would be getting lots of game time...would be our starting left back now...and his value would be doubled.

There wouldn't be any need to sell or for him to leave + we sign one player like that a season to add to the current crop.

Pickford
Kenny Keane/Holgate ??? ???
???
Davies ???
Vlasic DCL Lookman

Hopefully, Gibson, Adeniran, Bowler, Walsh, Connolly, Dowell and Onyekuru come through.

We should be bringing in 3 English youth players each summer (Gibson/Bowler/Adeniran) within 3 years that would be 9 new players for Unsworth to mould + 1 new super youth prospect each season like Sessegnon.

12 Youth internationals in 3 years time signed as top prospects into the squad.

As these players hit 20/21 Pickford/Keane will be 27 and other young lads will be 23.

Bringing through players in this way is what will set us apart with a 3 year plan.
