Sky and London based media really is laughable when it comes to Everton.

All summer we´ve been hearing about the imminent collapse and the "they´ll be lucky to finish in the top half soundbites".

Spurs, on the other, spenders of the odd 60 mil quid and darlings of the press are being tipped as potential champions etc.

Looking at how they played at Palace, they were no great shakes. They faced possibly the worst team to ever grace the premier league and had to resort to a dodgy penalty to win the match.

I´m not saying we´re better than Spurs, but we look every bit as lean and mean as they do.

I reckon we´re in good shape.

The difference between Europe or not will be our defense, we will score plenty of goals under Martines, the key will be keeping clean sheets and conceding less than scoring, i.e. yesterday,

We seem to be but don't know how this thing will work out. Spurs do have a huge advantage over us in that they can sign boss players without having to sell first.

We will know just how good shape were in as the season progresses. I reckon we will struggle to finish sixth but maybe it's one of them transition seasons.

I see the advantages in having a big squad but it can be a pain in the arse for a manager to deal with and having seven defensive mids is no different to having a couple as they'll never all play anyway.

Spurs have got a better squad but first teams there's only a bale between us IMO.

Spurs got the rub of the green today, yesterday that honour belonged to that jammy **** Whitaker who's first was a pinball run that ends up with the rebound landing plum in his path & the second the result of a shanked shot that turns into a peach of a cross

I reckon we're maybe one or two players (CM and maybe another attacking winger) away from having as complete of a squad as we've had since 2007 or perhaps even longer. With the youth coming through we actually have depth in certain positions. Be it through loan signings or wheeling and dealing, If Roberto can make astute additions in the coming weeks, we'll have a squad that will be in the thick of the European hunt come springtime.

Maybe it's to do with the managers?

Villas Boas is good, but the squad he's got and the money he has spent, he should be finishing above Arsenal this season I think.

I saw the game against Crystal Palace and they didn't look that good really, I can already see that Capoue is and will be a really important player for them this season.

I think we're in good shape, I don't really care how much the others teams spend, they can do what they like but we've added depth to our small squad, something we never really did under Moyes. AND YOUTH!

Whitaker got a goal because no one wanted to tackle him! He walked through about 4 of our players and Fellaini moved out of the way!

We will be a better version of Wigan.
We will score a lot of goals but we will concede every game

DM hardly kept a clean sheet last season - we had the same problem at the back - ok yesterday both of their goals had an element of luck, but Baines looked knackered thanks to woy Hodgeson playing him the full 90 mins for England with no winger in front of him! Jags played nearly the full England game too while other players from other clubs were used sparingly!!!!
