I think the defence is.

Theres no use saying moyes is tactically inept, if we cant keep a clean sheet. for example, where was hibbo near that ginger lad! Fair play to distin for trying to block it, but we cant seem to keep a clean sheet.

Id rather draw 0-0 than draw 1-1 in a game like that.

Just saying. CS breed confidence.

No, a man who plays Neville and Heitinga in centre midfield and then brings on James McFadden, who he pointlessly signed, instead of Ross Barkley isn't the problem.

We played six defenders today. Moyes selects the defence. He selects the team set-up. We have two central defenders who have played with eachother consistently for two years. We don't have an injury crisis. Every single defender at the club was hand picked by Moyes to play for Everton. etc. etc. etc.

In short, Moyes is tactically inept, because he can't set up a team to keep a clean sheet, even when he tries to do so at the expense of scoring goals.

So we have a manager who selects a side and uses them in a way that can't keep a clean sheet and can't score.

i agree to a certain point. but were we not all over sunderland today and concede a goal....like we have been most season.

our build up play, at times has been like we used to be, but theres no cutting edge at the end of it, and there is no solid foundation to start an attack from like there used to.

but its the same defence we've had for a couple of seasons now...not had a problem with it since!!

You're entitled to your opinion mate but I completely and utterly disagree.

If you don't score, or even threaten, then it will always come back to bite you on the arse. And scoring is quite simply more important than stopping the opponent from scoring, as without scoring yourself you can never get more than a point from each game. Which would see you relegated.

I'm sure this is a bait but fuming so I'll snatch it.
The goal was Distins fault, his error alone lead to it. Hibbo had a good game. Moyes' tactic is to setup as defensive as possible so the fact that our defence leaks goals is a testamant of Moyes tactics not working. 0-0 would be more likely if we'd not invite so much pressure upon us and if we'd pose a goal threat ourselves, and while lack of signings does have an influence on that, it's more to do with Moyes picking the wrong players from the available options. For example Tim Cahill has either no reason to be on the team, or he is in the XI because he can win defensive headers. For the past month I've flirted with the anti-Moyes side, and today I've finally made the final step over the line to join their ranks.

Actually, we've been this sh*te for well over a year now, but it's always disguised by the end of season "run of form" that occurs when the players realise there's no chance of either winning anything or being relegated so they play with freedom. Until then, you have Moyes "managing" his players.

i know, but if you think about it, at the minute our best chances of scoring are from set pieces.

cahill, distin, jags are all capable of heading the ball, as is baines capable of smashing a fk in.

recently, our set pieces seem to be utter crap, seemingly no one can clear the first man from a corner.

HOWEVER, our back four need the confidence of a clean sheet....i can only hope it will come soon.

Look on the bright side, LD is here soon :)

Very good point.

Our 7th place finish was more down to the fact that everyone who finished below us was utterly gash.

I'm really not understanding what you're trying to say... we can't score, so we may as well not try, so we should play 10 defenders so we don't concede any because that'll create a magic spell that will allow us to score goals in the next game? ^^

I don't mean to be sarcastic, but I'm firmly of the opinion that if you play positively and give the opposition something to think about, then you're more likely to keep a clean sheet as the opposition aren't free to bombard your goal, but maybe I'm just mental thinking like that.

We sold Lescott. Lescott and Jags was THE partnership. They bossed everyone. Then Lescott forced his way out. Good effort to replace him with Distin but it was never the same.
