The logic for milk in first to avoid curdling is true, but this would also mean that the tea doesn't brew properly when made like you's are describing...hence why the correct method is to use a tea pot! Tea gets to brew properly in the pot and you can put milk in cup first. Also brew your tea for at least 1 minute to release polyphenol anti-oxidants. Source: me, a food scientist.
