..... went to the doctors yesterday as I have been passing blood when I sink a ship, also been going to the poo house a lot more often than usual(sometimes as many as 8 times per day) been told I have to go to the hospital for a non urgent appointment and will have a camera up my bottom, does it hurt? when the middle aged woman put her finger up my bum yesterday it was sore enough. She put this thing that looked like Vaseline up it and for a few hours it felt as if someone squirted water up my bum.

Will I be sedated? how long will said camera be up my bum?

Pics mate. Oh, hang on.

Definitely get all the tests you can. If its bowel cancer, its very treatable early. One of the most harrowing things I've seen in the job is young men & women dying of cancer way before their time. It may be colitis, but blood in bowels or urine is a big red flag to do something about it & I'm glad you saw a Dr. The colonoscopy could be under sedation I though @Woolly Blue ? But then again I haven't seen one in a looooong time. Probs not worth the risk post sedation I guess, and less distressing than an OGD.

Sounds like you could have ulcerative colitis or Chron's disease.

It doesn't hurt mate, the worst is emptying your body the day before with the stuff they give you, your arse will be on FIRE. You get given some good drugs whilst they do it too, you don't feel a thing.

Read http://www.patient.co.uk/health/colonoscopy mate

You'll almost certainly be given a mild sedative and it'll take about half an hour.

I have ulcerative colitis by the way, if it is, feel free to PM me anytime mate, it's a prick but get on the right meds and you don't have to suffer.

Did the right thing getting checked out, too many dont. It could be a number of things, but your in good hands! Good luck lad.
