"And the Anfield side are ready to make a £6m bid for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, 29, after discovering that the Dutch striker is set to reject a final contract offer from Schalke." - From BBC..

Why would Schalke do this?

Are they complete idiots?
Not sure what the score is there, clause I guess, but we all know the slimepool have a history coming out smelling of roses. I for one sincerely hope the Germans come to their senses and find a way to at least adding £20M to that fee.

-Huntelaar has had lots of opportunities to come to England but seemingly doesn't fancy it.
-If his contract runs out in the summer, it seems a lot to pay to get him 6 months early.
-They didn't have the money/will to pay about £6m for the 29 year old Dempsey.
-How would they accommodate him and Saurez in their 4-2-3-1 system?
-Their transfer policy seems to be to buy players in their early twenties and to move on people with resale value (Adam, Carroll and Henderson).
-The departure of Kuyt, Maxi, Bellamy etc will have eased the wage bill. As a free agent in the summer Huntelaar will definitely be looking for a big pay day. Could/would they be able to cover it?
-It all sounds like paper talk to me.
