Next up is the glamorous one, and twice in so many months you lucky, lucky lemons.
After the mandatory walkover at Old Trafford we head to ull, to take on Phil Brown's Tigers - how ESPN is that? Rewind a mere two months ago and we put them to bed safe and soundly in a four nil win, notable for two things only - Yakubu scored and Leon Osman was captain. How many of you are confident of a win mid week then? Hull were beyond drab in the Milk Cup game but the man with the least amount of flesh on his face in modern football has returned and from the seeming abyss Hull City are fighting again.
You many remember Hull from when they burst on the scene last season, revolutionising Premiership football forever with their brash 4-3-3 and surging reet near the top of the table lapping up praise from the pundits. That was offset in the second half of the season as they were absolute tosh and were lucky to escape on the last day of the season, thankfully staying up at the expense of the potentially even more weapon set of fans of Newcastle.
Weapon fans. We've seen a few entries in the Premiership Zany McZany hall of fame but an enduring image which I can't quite dispel from my memory banks is their fans, dads too, doing that tiger mauling gesture at a game when they scored. They were all at it.
Phil Brown simply put is a massive, massive belter. Tan, scarfs, toe curling ego driven post match interviews, great tan and he really did do Karaoke to celebrate staying up. You can see, and in no short measure, why Hull have fully earned their title of "the Benidorm of the Premiership". Spirited Hull are also challenging Wigan, Burnley, Middlesbrough, Barnsley, Oldham & Stoke for the title of [Poor language removed] town up north in the Premiership.
Thankfully there is a redeeming feature in that we get to watch Nicky Barmby slip from the grasps of warranted football euthanasia by turning in [Poor language removed] performances every week.
We were expecting the United walk over, time has at least taught us that, but this is the type of game where we have to turn up and start the ball rolling somewhere. A brief spell in the second half at Old Trafford has probably convinced Moyes to pencil in 4-4-2 on Wednesday with Yakubu and Saha up front. In between Howard in goal and the front two it's an absolute lottery who will play but we need to have a system that works and a midfield and defence that don't look so flimsy when teams run at them. The partnership of Yobo and Distin needs to revert to its initial form when paired together rather than this one bad, one good game pattern they've got going on but it the common underwhelming theme running through the team at the moment it would be churlish to pick out anyone in particular for criticism.
The eagerly awaited return of Pienaar, Neville and Osman in the short term should provide much needed balance to a lop sided midfield but each game seems too early for them - Bily is suspended and the the rest of our best players are out as you're all too aware.
On paper, we should snot these. The revolution has to start somewhere I suppose.
