Some will recall the days when GOT would crash after every Everton goal, or after any significant Everton news.
It wasn't good enough for what we aspire towards, providing the best Everton platform online.
So this year, the objective for GOT was to ensure GOT was always online and accessible.
A big effort to do just that was the software GOT was on. So I binned our old front page website and put it on the worlds leading CMS (with a nice cache system) and I transferred the forum from a dated and bulky vBulletin toa better, more efficient XenForo.
This helped massively, but our traffic rocketed - in part I think, to the new software so in September, we followed that up by investing in a new dedicated server.
The upgrade incurred an additional cost of around £150 a month but it was a necessity. I don't expect GOT to be self sustaining, but I need to ensure the gap doesn't get too great where it's too big a strain for me to fund. So, we need your continued/increased help.
On 14th October, after a lot of requests over the years, we implemented a donation system - on the sidebar of the forum. I set it as £150 to cover the additional server fee, hoping for around £20/30 a month to help contribute it.
In October, we stormed to hit £150. Amazing. I assumed the initial core support would rightly fall. November, bam another £150 hit. It's 12th December today, and we've already hit the £150.
Remarkable level of support, so a quick note to say thank you very much to all of you who make the effort to help us out. Really do appreciate it
