Always amuses me that the Tories on here dont understand the hatred towards Thatch and the Tory party in this neck of the woods..

Maybe reading this will make them understand a bit,but hey the real story is this Thach paid £19 for an ironing board OUT OF HER OWN POCKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111!!! give her a saint hood.

I found it eary the similarities between this summers riots and the ones in '81 though and the reaction from the politico's then and now.

It shows that after all these years they just dont understand (or indeed want to) the real reasons behind them

what a pity labour were such a dreadful opposition party at the time.

now we have thatcher lite in no:10

Have to agree,in fact for all her nasty ways Thatcher did surround herself with very clever men can the same be said of todays Government?

"We do not want to find ourselves concentrating all the limited cash that may have to be made available into Liverpool and having nothing left for possibly more promising areas such as the West Midlands or, even, the North East.

"It would be even more regrettable if some of the brighter ideas for renewing economic activity were to be sown only on relatively stony ground on the banks of the Mersey.

"I cannot help feeling that the option of managed decline is one which we should not forget altogether. We must not expend all our limited resources in trying to make water flow uphill."

Vicious uncaring bas^ard. Thankfully Heseltine was a half decent bloke.

If by that you mean they were a bunch of surrender monkeys like Kinnock and Foot, I agree.

Liverpool Council and the miners were abandoned to hold the line.

What did the old t0sser expect a "managed decline" to look like? I don't think this lot have any more of a clue than Thatcher's Tories, and I can't say the current Labour opposition fill me with confidence either.

Heseltine was one of the good guys though
